I've worn a hat or cap of some sort since I can remember. One of my earliest memories was slapping a cap on and tearing off down the driveway on my big wheel in the late 80s.
Fast forward to my adult life; combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as a paratrooper and the memorable time spent behind the scope of a sniper rifle in service to my country. In the sea of military uniformity where every man dresses, talks, and looks the same, most of us brought our own personal ball cap to wear during the little downtime between daily combat operations.
These hats served as a unique piece of each man's personality, his own personal statement of beliefs. Some had popular car or motorcycle brands, some hats displayed sports team logos, while others flew the flag of our great nation. These hats were the one object that silently displayed our individual uniqueness from one another.
